* Requires Internet Explorer 4.0 Desktop Update.

If you want to take a look at the properties of a file or folder or
drive fast hold down the ALT key and double click on it.

If you want to open a file with a different program than it usually is
opened with hold down the SHIFT key and right click on it you will see a
additional item on the context menu called open with.

If you want to erase a file or folder select the file and hit the delete key.

If you want to refresh the contents of a explorer window fast hit the F5 key.

You can close anything (Even windows) by using the ALT+F4 key
combination (handy if you have mouse problems).

If you want to close a program you can do it from the taskbar by right clicking
on it and choose close from the context menu (you don't need to enlarge the window
first to close the program).

You can close more than one program at the same time from the taskbar by holding
down the CTRL key left click on every program that isn't "highlighted" next right
click and choose close.

You can shutdown windows fast(er) by creating a shortcut to the desktop or the
Quick Launch bar with the following command line in it C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe,ExitWindows

When the Start menu is really crowded (you have a lot of columns to browse through)
reorganize the Start menu by creating subfolders in C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs
and next drag and drop applications to the subfolders e.g. if you have a lot of
graphics programs you can create a subfolder called Graphics and drag and drop the programs to it.

If you drag and drop files or folders from one folder or drive or whatever to another
always do it while holding down the right mouse button until you have dropped the item
and then release the right mouse button you can choose from a context menu which action
to take (copy,move,make shortcut).

If your desktop is very crowded with icons either create one shortcut to a special
folder you can create e.g. My shortcuts and copy all the shortcuts to the folder you
don't use frequently or drag and drop some of the icons to the Start button on the taskbar
and create a separate menu on top of the Start menu.

If you want to select a lot of files but one or two to copy or any other action
you want to take just select all files holding down the CTRL and the A key at the
same time next only release the A key and left click on the file(s) you don't want to select.
